Yet what really sets this apart is its scent. Old Spice has been stepping up its game for years with its various body washes, mixing and matching fragrance notes to produce new spins on musk. This is where Turbo Wash differs: it doesn’t smell like anything else on the market. Infused with rosemary and eucalyptus, the smell opens up even more as you lather.

Guys have a few options when it comes to styling their hair - gel, pomade, or mousse. And depending on your hair type, hold need, or desired texture, each have their own benefits. Yet some products like a gel can dry out your hair, particularly if you’re also layering on some heat with a blow dryer. That’s why we were excited to find Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree Hair and Body Moisturizer Leave-In Conditioner.

Maapilim’s body lotion is the stuff you’d expect to find lying around an Axel Vervoordt-designed home. The minimal warm packaging whispers money and in-the-know taste, fitting for a brand based off of ingredients from around the Mediterranean. If Restoration Hardware had its own line of grooming products, we now know what it would look like (have you seen their terra cotta candles?).

One one side is the Arctic Blue Ice Crystal wipe, covered in small raised dots with the intent to use across your skin for exfoliation and removing dirt and sweat. The other side is a normal wipe, with caffeine to soothe puffy, tired skin, menthol to leave you feeling fresh, and ginseng root extract to stimulate and activate skin’s metabolism, helping to purge free radicals.

Maybe it’s the combination of winter and COVID leaving us unable to travel which has us pining for reminders of somewhere tropical (see our recent review of Skin Trip’s Coconut Lotion).

Whatever the reason, we were stoked to see the classic Jack Black lip balm - something every guy has probably had in their backpack at least once in their life - in an array of new scents: there’s Vanilla Bourbon, Mango Chili Lime, and Shea Butter to name but a few.

Palo santo has become one of those trendy spiritual items like Himalayan salt lamps, found in lifestyle magazines and all over Instagram. You’ve probably seen them used in smudging to cleanse negative energy. Its scent has been made into expensive candles.

But is it worth the hype?

Here’s the rundown: Skin Trip’s Coconut Lotion was developed in 1971 by Karen Benjamin in the Rockies. At first glance, it reminds you of something you’d find at a shop selling baja hoodies, Himalayan salt crystals, and incense. The label alone looks like it was whipped up in the back of an art class in the 70’s with some calligraphy pens, which is refreshing after years of sans serif and white space dominating design.

However instead of testing their body wash or shaving products which we have also gotten as gifts at one point, we wanted to try something of theirs which we had never heard anyone talk about: Jack Black’s deodorant, specifically their Pit CTRL Aluminum-Free Deodorant. Here’s the details: it’s natural, vegan, aluminum-free, cruelty-free, and gluten-free.

But perhaps the greatest selling point is its dual ability to fill in acne scars if you happen to have had blemishes which caused pits in the skin. We definitely noticed not only a reduction in color and size (along with depth of scar being reduced), but it left our skin looking healthier, firmer, and overall refreshed.

The serum is scentless and goes on under your moisturizer and sunscreen. What we weren’t so keen on was the texture – it’s insanely runny and that matters if you’re trying to get the most out of this product ($36 for .5 fl oz).

Aside from style, this thing is pretty indestructible, so it can be dropped or knocked around without having to worry about it holding up. The wide mouth makes it easy to drink from and clean, while the screw on cap with the generous plastic attachment gives you another way to carry it. But perhaps the best thing that many people don’t know about is Nalgene’s accessories which extend the bottle’s value while making it the Lego of water bottles.
