John Varvatos Makes a Nice Fragrance

As we continue to trudge through the summer, we’re determined to find at least one fragrance that’s comprised of quintessential summer smells - coconut suntan lotion, watermelon, freshly-mowed grass! Enter John Varvatos’ Artisan which we had always seen at department store fragrance counters. Artisan is a citrus aromatic fragrance whose top notes are clementine, tangerine, marjoram and thyme. The fragrance opens with Sicilian clementine and that’s where we feel like it stops. It’s the faintest hint of clementine really, which you can get more acquainted with when you peel an actual clementine. And that’s what’s upsetting about the fragrance - it doesn’t evolve nor have anything particularly distinctive about it nor does it stay on you for long. It’s just an okay fragrance with an interesting bottle.
