Finally! We Found An Alternative to Gel

For all the hate gel gets, it certainly has its time and place: a black tie event or a board meeting when we want to look like we are modeling for Ralph Lauren Black Label, or for those of us with thicker hair it’s an integral part of our medicine cabinet to style our manes. Sometimes though you don’t need all that firepower - a looser, ‘ten minutes out of the shower look’ is desired. We love Bumble and Bumble’s Sumoclay for this very need. Now unlike other clays we’ve tried which feel like you’re scraping candle wax out of a jar, this is a lightweight clay more akin to peanut butter. This also means that you don’t have to spend minutes working and warming it up in your hand for it to become usable (who has time for that in the morning?): a simple rub around in your palms suffices. We found it’s best to rake this guy through damp hair with your fingers and as your hair dries, you’ll have the appearance of a bulked-up yet broken-in head of hair. Aside from its usable texture, we loved that we didn’t feel like our head was sticky throughout the day, our hair felt lightweight, and it rinsed out easily in the shower. Oh and did we mention it smells amazing? This is a buy.
