This Famous Exfoliator Brand Is Now a Moisturizer

St. Ives’ face scrub passes through everyone’s medicine cabinet at least once. It was probably your first product as you stepped into a more intricate grooming routine. The brand produces a decent product at an affordable price point and is easily accessible at your local CVS, Walgreen, Target, and Walmart, so we were intrigued to try their Avocado Hydrating Daily Face Moisturizer. Made with 100% natural avocado oil, soybean oil, and plant-based glycerin, it also contains niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and Vitamin E, which it claims helps to defend against dull skin.

Upon opening it, you immediately notice its scent which is more cucumber than avocado. In fact, it reminded us of Vaseline’s Aloe Fresh Hydrating Body Lotion which is probably not what St. Ives was going for. The consistency is like an American yogurt, so a little goes a long way which is great for the value-conscious: with how little you need, even using it morning and night, it would probably last the average person at least two months. Though it claims that it’s non-greasy and won’t clog pores, we noticed immediately that we were left with a bit of a shine which only worsened by the end of the day. Our face also felt like it was wearing a mask and couldn’t breathe, so doing things like being outside or working made us even hotter because our skin felt smothered. Unfortunately this just felt cheap. It’s a pass for us.
