The Key to Keeping Your Dopp Kit Clean and Organized
Inevitably, no matter how well we pack or how organized we are, something always spills in our luggage. Whether it’s leaky cologne, a shampoo bottle that we didn’t tighten enough, or the toothpaste (it’s always the toothpaste!), there’s nothing worse than unpacking only to realize you have a wet or sticky mess that has spilled all over your other things. That’s why we’re big fans of Stasher’s reusable silicone bags. These guys come in a variety of shapes and colors that are much-needed replacements for your regular plastic bags that you’re using to store your food, but can serve dual purpose by storing anything else you can think of. In this case it’s our travel toiletries. Aside from being able to better organize our Dopp kit by category, these colored bags are translucent so you can still see inside them while also being washable (so if that spill still does happen, it won’t get very far). Get them all in the same color to match or contrast with your Dopp kit, or get a different color for each category (red for your toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss, yellow for your comb and hair product, etc.). It’ll save you time when you’re getting ready and help you feel a little bit more at home by allowing you to lay your stuff out instead of digging through your bag.
Looking for a matching Dopp kit? We love Patagonia’s Black Hole Cubes. They come in several different sizes (a rarity in the Dopp kit world) and colors which you can mix and match with your Stasher bags, and because it’s Patagonia i.e. made for toughness, we don’t have to worry if we do rinse this out after a few trips.
