A Triple Threat Sunscreen

Sunscreen and moisturizer are two things needed in every guy’s skincare routine regardless of skin type but have the perception of being unnecessary or a hassle. Particularly for those of us who are working from home or, pre-COVID, worked in an office maybe by a giant floor to ceiling window, it’s tempting not to think that you’re physically covered from the sun’s UV rays and therefore don’t really need a sunscreen. Yet that couldn’t be further from the truth – you still need it! And moisturizer for that matter! Which is why we like Neutrogena’s Rapid Tone Repair Moisturizer with sunscreen. It covers three bases in one and we’re gaga over multitasking products (except body wash that doubles as shampoo – don’t do that!).

First, the product moisturizes. It definitely gives life back to our dry face, particularly during the winter when washing our face takes an even greater toll on it, without causing us to break out. Second, it helps fade dark spots and fine lines with its combination of vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and retinol. This editor has a few left over from acne, and while it’s not the only product used to help fade those stubborn scars, it’s nice to know that this is helping while moisturizing. It’s also gentle enough for everyday use, so there was no irritation or flaking involved. Third, it has SPF 30 sunscreen, which is the bare minimum anyone should be using. Cutting three steps down to one, it helps speed up our routine and gets us out the door faster (or used to when we had somewhere to go).

While it does feel like a normal sunscreen, it didn’t leave us feeling greasy or clogged, nor was there any shine left on our face. Our only caveat is that it does have a faint scent of something akin to magnolia, but it fades throughout the day and isn’t potent enough to leave you smelling like your aunt who sells Mary Kay.
