Could This Be The First Natural Deodorant We Like?

We guess Schmidt’s is supposed to be targeted to women, but it’s 2021 and what is a female deodorant anyway? You’ve probably seen it at your local big box store, standing non-categorically between the sporty-looking deodorant ‘for men’ and the pastel-colored deodorant ‘for women’. Schmidt’s is a plant-based, certified vegan, and cruelty-free brand whose deodorants also don’t contain aluminum salts, artificial fragrance, filler ingredients, propylene glycol, phthalates, or parabens: if Trader Joe’s had a deodorant, this would be it. Our favorite thing about it is not only the amount of scents they carry, but the variation in scents – Earl Grey + Coconut Milk, Fig + Yuzu, Bergamot + Lime. It’s kind of a big deal. We tried the Lavender + Sage and liked that it lasted all day. We often wondered what that pleasant smell was when a breeze came our way, only to delight in the fact that it was us, gently effusing lavender. What we didn’t like was that you had to hold the product to your skin for a few seconds to soften up the deodorant before applying it, which means it took a couple of swipes for us to feel okay that we were covered for the day. It’s also a smidge oily and quite grainy, so you’re left with an unpleasant feeling during and after application (nobody wants to walk around with sticky clumps under their arms). If Schmidt’s could tweak their formula, we’d be a fan. We love their scents alone and think they should be candles! But as far as deodorant, we’re going to say skip it. Maybe their soaps are better.
