Kevin Love Uses This Men’s Brand And We’re Here For It

Pomade

It’s hard to fathom how any product could have only four ingredients, but that’s what the clay pomade has. While gel can make your hair look wet and stiff (and take a bit to dry without a hairdryer), this pomade provides your hair with texture and volume while keeping it matte and natural-looking i.e. no crunchiness, giving you that bedhead look even though you’ve (hopefully) showered. We like that the pomade smells like lavender too and that it’s humidity and sweat-resistant, making it easy to reshape your hair throughout the day. We did notice that it took a bit of effort to work into and through your hair and thoroughly wash it out at the end of the day, but that’s the nature of any product we’ve tried with beeswax (think Burt’s Bees). It may be well worth it though as Jack Henry claims it provides nourishing antioxidants that stimulate hair growth, fight dandruff, and prevent an itchy scalp.

Morning Hydrate

Our favorite product we’ve tried? The Morning Hydrate. This is an everyday repairing oil to support skin health that rejuvenates and hydrates. We are gaga over its earthy smell, which is due to the sweet almond and turmeric oils. Unlike a lotion or other creamy moisturizer, you only need a few drops for your whole face, but that’s not to say it doesn’t do its job of moisturizing - it definitely left us with that dewy glow every skinfluencer yearns for. Our skin felt genuinely moisturized without feeling greasy or heavy and that’s a tall order, but Jack Henry delivers. We can definitely see this coming in handy during the winter when our skin tends to get dry and flaky. It’s now a medicine cabinet must-have for us.

There’re very few personal care brands that men know off the top of their head, and Jack Black is one of them. Jack Henry should be the other Jack you should know. What began with face oils in early 2019 has now become a favorite of the likes of Kevin Love. Founded by Kyle Bardouche after he was concerned about the many questionable ingredients in the hair product he was using at the time, Jack Henry makes products that don’t use any synthetics or potential toxins. Their ingredients are organic, sourced from family farms from around the world, which then get formulated and developed in-house before being handcrafted by their team in small batches in Southern California.

We absolutely love the branding and packaging behind Jack Henry - it’s nice that guys finally have something of their own that looks like freaking Chanel. It’s doubly nice that guys finally have their own brand of products derived from natural ingredients (how long has clean beauty been around and yet why hasn’t that idea trended in the male personal care space yet…?). We applaud Bardouche for thinking of what guys need before they themselves know it and for bringing it into being. We tried three of the brand’s products including that famous deodorant that Kevin Love uses.

Deodorant

A deodorant with zero synthetics? You might be thinking of that coworker who rock climbs, eats peanut butter out of a jar, and gets his threads from REI. But Jack Henry makes something that looks sleek enough to be sold in Nordstrom. It boasts 48-hour protection via plant botanicals and bentonite clay that absorb sweat and odor - we can say that it definitely absorbed moisture and odor, but sadly we weren’t left still smelling like its blend of hinoki, juniper and eucalyptus oils on day two like you would, say, with Old Spice. And that’s a letdown because this isn’t like anything we’ve smelled on the market with that woody smell that all guys seem to gravitate towards. That may be due to the fact that it isn’t using anything synthetic, but the most important thing is that we also didn’t smell bad either. We just had that fresh out of the shower thing going for us. We also liked that it went on clean and didn’t stain our clothes, though the only other downside is that it was a little tough for us to apply. It reminded us of the old formulation of Schmidt’s, but once it’s on you’ve got peace of mind that what’s under your arm for the whole day doesn’t have things like aluminum in it.
