Or rather Clinique does. Their Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion delivers 8 hours of hydration while strengthening your skin. It’s not any different than any other lotion in application, but what we loved was its immediate absorption - this stuff wasn’t greasy or oily. You could also feel it working fast - our skin was moisturized and we could genuinely feel a barrier between it and the outside world, even withstanding a couple of hand washes. If you’re a stats guy, with Clinique’s lotion, your skin’s moisture barrier increases by 34% in 4 hours and your skin’s moisture gets boosted by 119% - how’s that for effective? But how does it do this? By employing what’s known as NMFs, humectants that occur naturally in skin. They help pull in water and bind moisture to skin to help keep it hydrated and balanced. This stuff will help strengthen your skin’s own moisture barrier so more moisture stays in while replenishing its oil-water balance. All this to say it’s great for long, tough winters. Sure it has a slightly clinical smell and it’s hella expensive if you’re planning to use this as a full body lotion instead of just on your face or hands (areas typically exposed during the winter), but if you live somewhere where winters are particularly brutal we could definitely see this as a necessary part off your seasonal arsenal.
