Cosplay as a Surfer With This Face and Body Wash

It’s getting warmer as spring rolls on, and for those of us wearing face masks, that means it’s potentially another season of mascne. We had Vitaman’s Face and Body Cleanser to try, so after we got home from grocery shopping, we headed to the bathroom to try this stuff out. The ingredients read like botanist’s guide to the healing power of plants:

  • Aloe Vera Leaf Juice promotes minor wound, burns, and rash healing and is an excellent moisturizer and emollient; it’s also an excellent soother, healer, repairer, and collagen booster

  • Witch Hazel is a natural cleanser that is also anti-bacterial

  • Sweet Orange Peel Oil which is a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory; it’s been shown to increase the ability to absorb vitamin C, collagen production, and blood flow - all of which are essential for anti-aging

  • Citric Acid is used to gently exfoliate dry surface skin cells; also helps to breakdown clogged skin cells making way for new healthier cells underneath

  • Australian Sea Salt – a natural, gentle exfoliant perfect for eliminating dead skin cells leaving your skin feeling smooth

  • White tea as the base ingredient instead of plain water

At the sink we noticed that this honey-colored cleanser is definitely a little runny and quickly turns to suds when applied to your moist face. This can make it feel like a cheap complementary hotel cleanser. One redeeming quality? Its smell which reminded us of a Ricola cough drop in the best way possible: slightly herbaceous mixed with a bouquet of wildflowers. We tried it in several scenarios: after a day when our face was naturally oily, in the morning trying to wash away last night’s products, at the end of the day trying to cleanse our face of the dirt and sunscreen - in any scenario, we definitely felt we had to go back a second time with this stuff. So maybe it’s not the best for your face. But even as a body wash, if you’re not careful, this stuff will slip out of your hand or off your slick skin and into the drain. And that’s our biggest problem with Vitaman: we love the concept and the ingredients, but the consistency of the products we’ve tried thus far just doesn’t feel luxe which is a huge problem when you look at the asking price. Vitaman definitely has potential, if only if it could get the feeling of its products right.
